Noon - 6 p.m.:  Chapter Leadership Workshop (CLW) - Chapter officers are encouraged to attend and share ideas with other chapter officers.  This workshop provides a detailed introduction to the Material Advantage:  describing membership benefits, offering assistance in developing and maintaining student chapters and recruiting and retaining student members. This is a great way to network and develop contacts before the start of MS&T.

Pre-registration is required specifically for this event.  Sign up on the conference registration form at the same time you pre-register for the MS&T conference.  For more information, contact Candace Cunningham.  The day will end with a social activity.

1 - 5 p.m.:  Student Speaking Contest - This is the National semi-final and final rounds of the Material Advantage Student Speaking Contest.  Each Material Advantage Chapter is encouraged to hold local contests on campus prior to MS&T.  The winners of the local contests will advance to the semi-final/final rounds at MS&T.  The subject of the presentation must be technical but can relate to any aspect of materials science and engineering.  Register in advance to participate or plan to attend to support your fellow students.  Students who participate receive a $300 travel grant, given at the end of the semi-final/final rounds at MS&T.  Winners of the finals receive cash prizes.  For more information and contest rules, contact Tricia Niswonger

12:15 - 1:15 p.m.:  Graduate School Information - For those students interested in or considering a graduate school program, this session is just for you.  Listen and discuss the pros and cons with a graduate student speaker.  Hear about the process for applying and selecting a graduate school program directly from a university representative.

1:15 - 2 p.m.:  The Art of Networking - Make the most out of your attendance at MS&T and other events by learning how to effectively meet and talk to people who may impact your future.
